Last spring the owners of the Queen of the West Riverboat contacted Waagmeester Canvas Products about the construction of weather protection for their upper deck. The Queen of the West runs up and down the Columbia River, serving groups and individuals. The views of the Columbia Gorge are fantastic, especially from the perspective of the river. The upper deck of the stern wheeler is a most popular place because of the views and the ambiance it provides, except in inclement weather. The Challenge: Build a special wall that is removable in nice weather encourages sight seeing maintains the look of the riverboat is water proof can withstand winds of 80 MPH Notice how the enclosure for the upper deck blends in when it is in use. During nice weather, the entire unit can be rolled up and put away so the visitors can enjoy the river in sunshine. Waagmeester Canvas Products met each of the requirements for the job. In fact, the wind loading has been tested by "Hood River's" famous blustery days by withstanding wind gusts of 90 MPH.
